Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
SGB-SMIT CALIDUS is looking for a suitably qualified CNC Operator. The candidate will be responsible for the daily setup and operation of one or more CNC plasma cutting machines. They will assist other CNC operators with any of their daily duties including area housekeeping, maintenance work, and material staging.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12/N3.
- CNC Programming Certificate.
- 2 Years working experience in the same field.
- Knowledge on computer programming software (e.g easycam, alphacam).
Key Responsibilities
- Creating instruction for machines.
- Making calculations for programming including where materials should be cut.
- Checking completed programs by running simulations or tests.
- Determines sequences of tools during program run.
- Chooses cutting tools that will be needed for different machining.
- Writes programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency.
- Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes.
- Monitors all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions safely and successfully complete the task.
Key Competencies
- Must have good reading comprehension skills in English.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have excellent computer skills (Preferably Microsoft Package).
- Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision.
